Quick Start

Up and running in five steps

Simmetric Chat works without ever connecting to the internet, if you configure it that way. The five steps below bring the full stack onto your machine.

Set up what it needs

Commands

# Optional but recommended: Ollama for local LLM
ollama pull gemma4:latest

Bring the app onto your machine

Commands

git clone https://github.com/studio-simos/simmetric simmetric-chat
cd simmetric-chat
pnpm install

Give it its keys

cp .env.example .env
# Required in the repo-root .env:
#   JWT_SECRET=<strong random value>
#   COLLECTOR_SECRET=<shared with the collector>
# (DATABASE_URL has a code default)

Create the database

Commands

bash

pnpm db:generate    # generate Prisma client
pnpm db:migrate     # apply migrations
pnpm db:seed        # roles, permissions, bootstrap admin (admin / admin123)

Start everything

Commands

bash

pnpm dev    # turborepo: server + collector + widget + frontend in parallel

First launch

Open http://localhost:5173. Sign in with the bootstrap admin (admin / admin123) - the setup wizard forces a password change on first login.
